The intensive care unit (ICU) at Medical Center of South Arkansas provides continuous monitoring and treatment of critically ill patients. Because patients in the ICU require specialized care, visitors should understand that their visit might be interrupted or cut short based on the needs of the patient and our doctors.
Medical Center of South Arkansas has an eight-bed intensive care unit and an eight-bed intermediate care unit.
In our intermediate care unit, patients are monitored by portable heart monitors, allowing increased activity as healing continues. Families are encouraged to actively participate in patients’ care through extended visiting times in the intermediate care unit.
